Pipex have worked on a number of projects with Network Rail. These projects have ranged from providing Fibre/Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP/FRP) grating and handrails to the St. Austell footbridge which was Network Rails first completely FRP footbridge in the UK.
Recently Pipex have been producing PX-RPP (Raised Passenger Platform) FRP 'Humps' for rural stations across the UK. These 'Humps' raise the platforms at specific locations to a tailored height to make embarking & disembarking the trains easier for all ages.
Pipex can also build and supply whole train station platforms from our non conductive, low maintenance FRP materials. These platforms come in pre-assembled panels which can be easily lifted into position.
Pipex has also supplied FRP Shoring panels to replace worn out existing timber shoring. The Panels were fabricated from back to back channel columns with angle cross bracing, supplied in units 11000mm x 2000mm to be craned into place during a night possession on railway embankment. This was a new and innovative use of FRP structural profiles; the comparatively light weight of the assembled panels simplified lifting operations during installation.
